A Feast for the Eyes and Palate

Hanzuiryo is renowned for its cuisine, having had Hitoshi Ishihara, the owner of the Michelin three-star restaurant “Mizai” in Kyoto, serve as the second head chef. The current fourth head chef, Koichi Honda, continues the legacy as a successor who has mastered the tastes of all three previous head chefs. Delight in authentic Kaiseki cuisine that incorporates the seasonal flavors of Unzen, surrounded by nature, and the seasonal ingredients from Nagasaki, enclosed by the sea and mountains. Each monthly menu is meticulously crafted, from the selection of tableware to the presentation.
Additionally, Hanzuiryo’s exceptional hospitality has been recognized, earning the highest five-star rating for accommodations and a one-star rating for cuisine in the “Michelin Guide Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki 2019 Special Edition.” Achieving awards in both accommodation and cuisine categories simultaneously is a rare feat, with Hanzuiryo being only the second establishment in Japan to do so. It has also been recently introduced as a one-Michelin-key property in the Asia region’s first “Michelin Guide Hotel Selection.”
